Gripd: Run Your Hustle Like a Business

A one-minute product film that talks the way my users actually talk.

The brief

Gripd helps people with side hustles track what they make and spend. I needed one video that could sit on the landing page, run as an ad and get shared on WhatsApp, and explain the product without a single voiceover.

How I got there

  1. 1

    Write it in Pidgin

Every section opens with a line my users would actually say: "Money dey enter. Where e dey go?", "Sell am. Log am.", "Who owe you?", "No DM wahala." Then a plain English promise follows it up. It's the brand voice, in motion.

  2. 2

    Show the real product

Every screen is the actual Gripd interface, animated: the monthly dashboard, logging a sale with the keypad, the booking link, invoices, the bank alert you can log in one tap. No mock phones floating in space.

  3. 3

One colour, a lot of black

Gripd orange on near-black, with each feature getting its own beat. Bright frames hit like punctuation between the product shots.

  4. 4

    Give it a payoff

It builds to the moment users love: the counter rolls from ₦0 to ₦1,348,500 and a "Badge unlocked: ₦1M" pops. Then the logo, "Run your hustle like a business", and gripd.ng.

How it landed

The film now does three jobs at once: landing page, paid ad and something people forward to the friend who 'will calculate it later'.
